Cartesio
OOC FAQ

1. What is Cartesio?

Cartesio is an eight-week long murdergame, taking place is an old industrial town in the middle of nowhere. The premise is to solve the mysteries that will plague Cartesio, and find a way to survive before eight weeks pass ICly.

2. Sounds good! How many characters can I play?

There’s a limit to one character per player, and in the entire game there can be up to thirty characters. There’s a limit of three characters per canon, too.

3. Who can I app to Cartesio?

In general, any character with a minimum age of thirteen is welcome in Cartesio! Unfortunately, thirteen is the minimum age to app, no character below this age will be accepted.

4. I want to join the game!

First make sure you reserve your character! Applications without reserve won’t be accepted. To reserve, simply fill the short form you’ll find in the Reserves section, and submit it. Proxy reserves are also accepted. No app challenges are valid, and only one version of a character at a time will be accepted.

While you’re not required to reserve with the account you’re going to use, please submit your application with the account you’ll be using for the game.

5. Alright! I want to reserve!

Reserves will open September 21st at 12:00PM EST, and will stay open for 48 hours or until reserves are filled. Applications will open the next day after reserves close, and will stay open for seven days. Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay!

6. I played a character during the mock week, can I app with them?

Yes you can. They'll even keep their memories of what happened during the mock week -- all of their memories. However there's a catch: the Sergeant states you're not allowed to explicitly tell any of the newcomers what happened. Be as vague or foreboding as you want, just don't outright mention any of it!

7. Can I reserve a character someone else used during the mock week?

Yes you can. However, if the person who played this character reserves them, then their reserve will have priority and you'll be asked to change your reserve. If your reserve goes through the reserve period successfully, then that character will be considered a brand new iteration of that character, with no relation to the one from the mock week.

6. What are the events like?

On Wednesday the Sergeant will force you to cooperate with something he wants to do. The first post will introduce your character waking up in a specific place or being forced to go there, and from there on you have to cooperate with your fellow players and complete the event.

That's all you have to do! Post and interact with others and the environment, and in no time your charater will be allowed to leave the place the event takes place in!

7. Regains?

Each character can have up to three regains that are very important to them in some manner, and any number of less important regains. All these objects can be obtained throughout the game as rewards. For example, by completing events, or by offering yourself as an executioner. Weapons and items with magical properties will be nerfed, meaning the weapons will be downgraded and any magical properties an object has will be removed.

8. Offering yourself as an executioner?

At the end of the trial, the Sergeant will ask if anyone wants to volunteer to be the executioner and kill the person voted as guilty. The executioner player, the voted player and the mods will prewrite an execution according to their ideas, and it'll be posted on Sunday morning.

As a reward, the executioner will receive an important regain!

8. What’s the schedule like?

Sunday: New weekly post is opened at noon EST. The participants for the next case are rolled.
Tuesday: The motive is revealed at noon EST
Wednesday: The weekly event is done
Friday: The investigation starts at 8:00 PM EST
Saturday: The trial starts at noon EST

9. How are cases arranged?

If you want to volunteer for a case all you have to do is indicate it in your application, or contact a moderator anytime! We’ll do everything we can to fit you in a case. If there are no volunteers, a death roll will be made on Sunday, selecting the victim and culprit from lists made according to the apps. The suspects will be chosen by those working on the case, and will be contacted during the week to ask if they will be available during the trial.

10. I have another question

Please feel free to contact us anytime. The mod team is [plurk.com profile] creatorofathousanduniverses and [plurk.com profile] kabunevermind, with [plurk.com profile] AppleBlossoms as the graveyard moderator.

IC FAQ

1. What is this town?

Welcome to Cartesio! Cartesio is an industrial town with a population of 526 residents, a growing little corner of joy. Enjoy the bustling shopping area, eat some good food at the famous diner, and spend a good night at the tavern. Everything is good and wholesome!

Just don’t cause any trouble and Cartesio will welcome you with open arms!

2. And what’ll happen if I “cause any trouble”?

You don’t want to know. You’ll be risking your life.

3. Who brought us all here? Why are we here?

The Sergeant, of course. It’s the guy who looks like there’s shadows on his face all the time. If you have any complaints, direct them to him.

As to why you’re here...think of it as a vacation. Don’t worry about it.

4. What happened to my powers? They’re weaker than before!

Don’t worry, your powers are still there. It’s just that they have been toned down. For your own safety, of course. You wouldn’t want to hurt anyone or accidentally get yourself out of the town. Just trust the Sergeant on this one.

5. But I want to leave now!

I’m afraid there’s no option to leave until sixty days have passed. Wait until then, and make sure you have the required medal to leave.

6. Tell me about the medal.

The Sergeant can award you a small medal if you complete a favor to him. Every week the Sergeant will describe a task he’d like to see done, and you can offer to help him. If the mission is completed successfully, you’ll receive a medal. Who is awarded a medal is up to the Sergeant's discretion, so you better make sure to try as hard as you can to satisfy his demands.

Your other option is to commit a murder and get away with it. Pretty self-explanatory. It’s in your best interest to obtain a medal, or otherwise you won’t be able to leave the town! Besides, the motel rooms were rented only for two months, so if you stay trapped in the town, you’ll be homeless. We don’t want that, do we?

7. What’s the catch?

There’s no catch! Get the medal, you get to leave. Just remember you’re not the only one who will want a medal. Be careful.

8. I want to talk with the Sergeant, right now.

Come see him at the Lodge. He usually spends all his time guarding the door in the lobby, he won't mind the company as long as you're not going to harass him to let you go.

9. I understand the events part, but what about the murder part?

If you kill someone, you’ll have the chance to earn a medal. All you have to do is get away with your crime by surviving a trial and successfully letting someone else get the blame!

10. What happens if we vote for someone innocent?

In that case, that innocent person will be executed. Other than that there’ll be no further penalties for everyone...although the knowledge someone who murdered is still among you may be a bit stressful. The Sergeant won’t reveal who is the real killer, and that person will receive a medal privately.
